What we do
Pack 341 administers the Scouting America Cub Scout program to boys and girls in the Carbon Valley corridor and surrounding areas in grades K-5. The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Cub Scout program is the first step in the Scouting America vision to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law.
Cub Scouts is a program where youth develop the foundations for leadership, citizenship, and personal fitness through fun, age appropriate activities. At any given time, your Cub Scout could be examining fossils, tying knots, putting on a skit, learning about nature and the outdoors, building a gingerbread house, playing soccer, or even flying a rocket! All the while, they will be earning patches and awards that recognize their growth and accomplishments.
Our Pack meets regularly throughout the Saint Vrain Valley School district school year, and we often have special presenters speak to the Cub Scouts. First responders like police officers and firefighters come show the Cub Scouts their equipment and vehicles while talking about safety and emergency preparedness, and certified trainers do presentations on outdoor ethics like Leave No Trace. We also have special events throughout the school year, such as a Halloween party in October, or a holiday party in December ahead of the holiday break. We also have the famous Pinewood Derby every year, where the scouts build and paint model cars to be raced down a track!
The fun doesn’t end with the school year though! We also have summertime activities; we hike, we fish, we participate in parades, and we go to summer camp! At summer camp Cub Scouts are able to participate in archery, canoeing, roasting marshmallows, and so much more! Here in Colorado we are fortunate to have so many nearby opportunities to access the outdoors, and Pack 341 takes full advantage.
